Acceptable use policy
Last updated 6 September 2026
This policy sets out what is and is not permitted when using the Quant Compose website and the private beta workspace. It exists to keep the workspace usable, secure, and trustworthy for every researcher on it, not to restrict legitimate research activity.
The workspace is for genuine research use
The private beta workspace is provided for genuine quantitative research and portfolio analysis — testing hypotheses, validating strategies, exploring data, and producing evidence you can check and defend. Beta invitations are extended specifically so real research questions can be tested against the product, and we ask beta researchers to use the workspace this way: on questions that matter to your own research, reported back honestly including where the workspace refused to compute something or produced a weak result.
Do not attempt to circumvent the workspace’s safeguards
The workspace includes deliberate safeguards against common research errors: leakage-aware validation splits, purge and embargo gaps, refusals when required data is missing or a stress-test scenario is not covered by loaded data, and an honest trial ledger behind multiple-testing corrections. You may not attempt to disable, bypass, or manipulate these safeguards to produce a result that misrepresents what your data and methodology actually support — for example, deliberately under-reporting configurations tried to inflate a deflated Sharpe ratio, or manually editing an exported evidence pack to alter a figure the workspace computed.
Data you bring into the workspace
You are responsible for having the right to use any data you upload or connect to the workspace, including compliance with the terms of any third-party data provider you connect through the workspace’s connector system. You may not upload data you do not have the right to use, including data obtained in breach of another provider’s terms of service, or personal data about identifiable individuals beyond what is necessary for legitimate financial research (for example, ordinary market and security-level data does not raise this concern; data about specific individuals’ personal financial circumstances would).
No attempt to access other accounts or tenants
Each workspace account and each research project within it is isolated from every other account’s data. You may not attempt to access, probe, or infer the contents of another user’s account, project, or research, and you may not attempt to circumvent the tenant isolation the workspace enforces at the storage and request level. If you discover a way to access data that is not yours, please report it to us immediately at contact@quantcompose.com rather than continuing to explore it, and we will treat a good-faith report of this kind as responsible disclosure rather than a violation of these terms.
No excessive automated load
The workspace is designed for interactive research use by a human researcher. You may not run automated scripts against the workspace’s API at a volume intended to degrade the service for other users, attempt to scrape the method catalogue or workspace content at scale for a purpose unrelated to your own research, or attempt to circumvent any rate limit or resource quota associated with your plan.
No use for live trading decisions without independent judgement
As set out in our disclaimer, the workspace performs no live order routing and provides no investment advice. You may use the workspace’s research output to inform your own thinking, but you may not represent workspace output to a third party as investment advice, as a guaranteed trading signal, or as anything other than what it is: a research tool’s evidence-based, appropriately hedged output. Misrepresenting the workspace’s output this way to clients, students, or the public is a violation of this policy regardless of whether you personally understand the workspace’s actual scope correctly.
Feedback and research logs
We ask beta researchers to keep a research log and report refusals, weak results, and points of confusion honestly. Feedback provided this way is valuable specifically because it is honest — please do not shape your reported feedback to appear more favourable to the product than your actual experience was. Genuine, critical feedback is what the private beta period exists to gather.
The marketing site’s forms
The contact form, private beta application, institution enquiry form, and newsletter sign-up on www.quantcompose.com may not be used to submit spam, phishing content, material intended to exploit the form handler, or requests unrelated to their stated purpose.
Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate access to the workspace, or decline to act on a form submission, where we reasonably believe this policy has been violated. Where practical, we will attempt to raise a concern with you directly before taking action, particularly during the private beta, where direct feedback between researchers and the team building the product is part of the point of the programme.
Reporting a concern
If you believe another user, or the workspace itself, is behaving in a way this policy does not permit, contact contact@quantcompose.com.
